What is Halal?

In Arabic, Halal simply means permissible or allowed. Opposite to it is Haram, which means forbidden or not allowed. Muslims are forbidden from eating anything haram. They can only eat foods that are Halal and permissible according to Islamic law. [Quran: 5:88] And eat of the lawful and good (things) that Allah has given you, and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, in Whom you believe.

Our Story:

VancouverFoodies.ca is a result of a long and outstanding desire of the community to have a portal dedicated exclusively for all Halal consumers in Vancouver, British Columbia. We focus on quality over quantity. The Halal community wanted a portal where we can share and discuss Halal food. However, there were no reliable resources to seek in Metro Vancouver, especially for any new-comers to BC. We felt there was a need for a website that should be built by the people known within the local community to provide reliable and up to date information and in 2019 this website was launched. It has been created for the community. This website is 100% Free. There are no ads, we do not charge for any listings. To ensure the integrity of our listings, we also do not allow any businesses to purchase any sort of higher ranking.

Our Mission:

Note: WE ARE NOT A CERTIFICATION BODY.

Our mission is to promote and support Halal. Our goal is to have Halal options become readily available for the mainstream market. Being a proud member of Muslim Business Council BC, Halal Foodies Vancouver has become an industry leader with an active community of all Halal restaurants, markets, and community organizations who are onboard with us to promote and support Halal.

Disclaimer:

We make every attempt to verify our user submitted listings by verbal assurance from the management at the time of publishing. However, given the changing landscape in the Restaurant industry and their suppliers, it is impossible for us to be always up to date. Be advised some restaurants may serve alcohol or be partially Halal or use “machine slaughtered” meats. Kindly visit at your own discretion and reconfirm each time. When in doubt, it is best to avoid.

At VancouverFoodies.ca some listings may display our verified blue badge. This means the facility has disclosed their meat sources, there are no other non-halal products served here and it conforms to our highest standards of quality assurance. If you find a listing is erroneously submitted here, please let us know, and we will promptly look into it and make corrections if required. Jazak Allahu Khayran
